These are a few things you will hear before you even dare to enter Norway; the people are so unfriendly and closed up. They never open up to strangers! Well I think I have a different opinion to that. You don't need to have people surround you and pretend to be your friend whiles they are not. I think they would rather be close to you and stick with you. That is what I have witnessed so far. But they are nice. You walk in the streets and meet someone. He/She smiles to you without saying a word. That is good enough for me.
How many people smile at you in the streets of Accra or Tema when they don't know you? I was walking in the street two days today and a small boy sitting on a bike behind the mum just goes Hallo!! It isn't my first and I know it will not be my last. They like people in their own way and that is admirable.
Another thing that makes it nice is the fact that when you meet anybody who is black skin they actually stop and say hi to you. Somalis, Ethiopians, Congolese, Nigerians, Ghanaians whoever, so long as you are black they talk to you. That is kind of nice. It is amazing how they are able to recognise you the next time they see you.
I went for this very interest festival in a town nearby called Verdal, I was busy enjoying the seemingly 'strange culture' i was seeing! Thousands of people dressed in funny customes just for fun and celebrations and hundreds from far and near standing by to watch. I only saw people sing and having fun. I did same!.....don't even think about that.... me joining in? IMPOSSICAN'T.I actually had fun watching.
Last sunday I was at the international church here in Levanger and after church I was interacting with the people who came and then one lady told me she saw me at the festival. I was kind of shock but it was me she saw coz she said was was pushing a baby trolley and that was true.
You really cannot hide in this community. They will find you. I will have to end here and concentrate ON some things i have to get done but I will tell you something else which we take forgranted in Ghana but is of relevance here next time...........
